The study surveyed over 1,500 employed Americans aged 18 to 75+ to understand their needs and desires as they age in the workplace. As people live and work longer, the number of older employees has risen dramatically. Nearly half of workers aged 65+ intend to stay employed for 5+ more years. 

In the United Kingdom, employment rates for individuals aged 50-70 have shown consistent upward trends, and the pension age is set to increase to 67 by March 2028, according to the Office for National Statistics. This shift is particularly significant as employers will increasingly depend on older workers to maintain productivity and drive growth amid a shrinking pool of younger talent.

However, 95% of employers lack strategies to ensure an age-inclusive culture, though 83% believe their workplace already is. Just 67% of employees agree. The study identified key needs across age groups: a sense of purpose, flexibility, and belonging. Older employees especially seek meaningful work, citing purpose as their top motivator.
